Bacon Cake 9

Posted by Aaron Patterson on August 20, 2006

First off, happy birthday Todd!

This weekend was Todd’s birthday, so Stacy and I made him a Bacon Cake. It consisted of two layers of delicious corn bread with a layer of bacon and frosting between. We frosted the outside, and coated it in bacon. The frosting was a cream cheese frosting with maple syrup. We cooked up two pounds of bacon for the cake.

The cake actually tasted really good, but next time I think we should make the frosting not so sweet. Stacy had suggested a sour cream frosting, but I didn’t like the idea of sour cream with corn bread. I think next time we should use less sugar, more syrup, and add some bacon fat to the frosting.

    Hello,
I made a bacon cake a few months ago! Mine was a white cake and I also put bacon between two layers of cake.

I candied my bacon with brown sugar and then chopped it all up in the food processor so mine is not as pretty as yours:

I used a very fluffy maple syrup icing that was just boiled syrup beaten into egg whites. I think the lightless helped–I considered cream cheese frosting too but I thought it might be too heavy on a cake with MEAT. Here’s a recipe:

I would definitely lay bacon cake down by the fire and make sweet love to it. Bacon Cake is awesome, and I hope to make it mine again.

I can’t believe it, and thank you! I am known for baking birthday cakes for my co-workers, and a “bacon cake” challange was given to me yesterday. Thank you for the ideas!

We make a bacon cake at the restaurant I work in.

Instead of using the fat from butter or eggs, we use bacon fat.
Any recipe for a cake will do, you just need to figure out the correct proportions for the fats and then suppliment. We even add beer to ours to help with the flavour.

We serve it with a caramel mousse and maple ice cream. It looks like a stack of pancakes and it is delicious.

Aaron – you simply must help me make this cake for my friend Rick’s birthday this weekend. We are roasting a whole pig and he is truly a bacon fanatic.
